The motivations underlying my work are best characterized as an ongoing dialogue between the past and the present. More than a critique or commentary on art, in my work there is a nostalgic love of art history, and a fascination with the history of humanity encapsulated therein. I see myself as a mediator, bridging the gap between the beauty and freedom I’ve enjoyed in art history with the complex concerns of contemporary culture.
The life and status of women - Canadian identity, art history, human history, and in particular, ancient Greek history, provides most of the material from which I create my art.
